Now Lebanon - Timing of indictment issuance ‘suspicious,’ Hashem says - June 30, 2011

Liberation and Development bloc MP Qassem Hashem said on Thursday that the timing of the release of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s indictment is “suspicious”, adding that “this indictment proves that the tribunal has a clear goal which is to punish the Resistance and serve Israel’s interests.”
Hashem also told Akhbar al-Yawm news agency that the STL’s indictment must be dealt with through more caution and alertness.
“Any indictment that does not tackle truth [properly] is considered [an attempt to cause] strife. Targeting any political party is also considered [an attempt to cause] strife.”
The indictment, since it was released, is “far from the truth,” he also said, adding that anyone who bets on it will be considered an accomplice “in targeting and attacking.”
Earlier on Thursday, the STL submitted a sealed indictment and arrest warrants to Lebanon’s Prosecutor General Said Mirza, AFP reported.
A judicial official told AFP that four Lebanese suspects are named in the indictment of the STL which is investigating the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Local media said at least two of them were members of the Iranian and Syrian-backed Hezbollah, which has warned it would defend itself if accused.
