Now Lebanon - Police kill Estonians’ kidnappers in Bekaa ambush, September 17, 2011

The Internal Security Forces (ISF) Information Branch on Tuesday ambushed and killed two people involved in the kidnapping of seven Estonian bikers in the Bekaa earlier this year.
According to the National News Agency, “An ISF unit ambushed a group of armed men in the town of Beery, West Bekaa at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.”
“The ISF installed metal barriers to block the road ahead of the arrival of the suspects’ vehicle,” the NNA said.
It added that the vehicle overturned and hit a wall, after which there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the police.
“The gunfire led to the killing of the two suspects while one ISF officer was injured and taken to the Bekaa Khoury Hospital.”
The report said that the bodies of the men were taken to the Baabda Hospital in order to confirm their identity.
The Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio station reported earlier on Tuesday that one of the men killed was identified as Wael Abbas, who was involved in the kidnapping of the Estonians. However, VOL denied the report later in the day.
The seven Estonians were freed in Lebanon in July almost four months after being abducted by armed men as they entered the country on a bicycle tour from neighboring Syria.
