The Daily Star - Syrian families cross into Lebanon from the north - June 24, 2011

BEIRUT: A number of Syrian families crossed into north Lebanon through the Arida border crossing at dawn Thursday, several sources told The Daily Star.
The crossing took place as hundreds of Syrians fled into Turkey Thursday to escape a possible assault by the Syrian army, which had increased its presence in the early hours of the day.
Although sources could not confirm the number of families that entered Lebanese territories, local newspaper Al-Liwaa reported that around 20 Syrian families fled Syria through both the Arida crossing and the nearby Al-Kabir river.
