Now Lebanon - Ahmad Karami says cabinet cannot void STL - June 24, 2011

State Minister Ahmad Karami said on Friday that the newly-formed cabinet cannot void the Special Tribunal for Lebanon since the tribunal was established by a UN Security Council Resolution.
Karami told Al-Fajr radio that the preparations made by the opposition to face the cabinet are natural and preserve the democratic system in Lebanon.
He added that a meeting is being prepared between Tripoli’s figures to tackle the demilitarization of the city, which will most likely be attended by Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
Armed clashes erupted last Friday in the Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhoods following a rally in support of Syrian protesters. Seven were killed and several were injured.
The new Lebanese cabinet—headed by Mikati—was formed last week after almost five months of deliberations between the March 8 parties.
