Now lebanon - Geagea: STL should be judged according to its work, October 12, 2011

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Tuesday that the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) should be judged according to its work.
“It is necessary that we judge the STL according to its work away from all [prejudices],” a statement issued by Geagea’s office quoted him as saying.
He also criticized “those who are reducing the importance of the STL and [frame] it only [within the issue of] funding,” adding that the tribunal will continue its work “if we financed it or not.”
The Hezbollah-led March 8 parties – which currently dominate Lebanon’s cabinet – have opposed a clause in the Lebanese annual state budget pertaining to the funding of the tribunal.
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL for the 2005 assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri. However, the Shia group strongly denies the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court.
The LF leader also condemned the cabinet’s position on the latest Syrian crossing of the Lebanese borders.
“Isn’t it weird that France took a position on the Syrian assaults on Lebanon while the Lebanese cabinet remained silent?” he asked.
Last week, Syrian army tanks crossed the Lebanese border near the town of Aarsal and fired several gunshots within Lebanese territory, and later Syrian troops shot and killed a farmer near Aarsal.
