The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - Inmate en route for treatment in Beirut briefly abducted, August 3 2012


BEIRUT: Prison guards managed to recapture a prisoner who was temporarily abducted by two gunmen in Beirut Thursday, security sources said.
The prisoner, who was not identified, was under police escort en route to Al-Hayat Hospital from Rafik Hariri Hospital in Beirut when two gunmen intercepted the vehicle he was in and fled with the inmate after threatening the police at gunpoint.
The police then launched an armed pursuit of the two gunmen – identified by their first names Fawzi and Ahmad. The two sides traded fire in the car chase which passed near the Kuwaiti Embassy in the Capital
The guards managed to recapture the prisoner after the gunmen abandoned him in their vehicle and fled on foot.
The inmate is currently receiving treatment at Al-Hayat hospital under heavy guard.
