Daily Star - Sadr’s sister Libya ties must hinge on imam case, August 6 2012

BEIRUT: Libya’s cooperation with Lebanon to uncover the fate of missing Imam Musa al-Sadr is key to restoring normal relations between the two countries, the influential imam’s sister said. Speaking in Tyre over the weekend during an iftar banquet organized by the Imam Sadr Foundation, which she heads, Rabab Sadr said the imam’s case deserves to be dealt with seriously by Lebanese state. She called on Lebanese authorities to adopt a “clear policy stating that ... the condition for normal ties between the two countries requires serious and sincere cooperation [on behalf of Libya] to resolve this sacred issue.” The fall of late Moammar Gadhafi’s regime in Libya almost a year ago raised hopes of resolving the case of Imam Sadr, who went missing along with Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine during a visit to Libya on an official invitation by the slain colonel on Aug. 31, 1978. No tangible progress has been made in any investigation so far.
