NowLebanon - General Security denies confiscating Lebanese activist, August 8 2012

General Security responded to MP Henri Helou’s statement condemning the agency’s confiscation of the passport of a Lebanese activist and said the MP must have fallen victim of wrong information.

“Everything that was included in Helou’s statement is false. He must have fallen victim of false information,” General Security said in a statement.
On  Monday, activists said that General Security confiscated Tarif’s passport at Beirut’s Rafiq Hariri International Airport before his flight to Turkey.
However, later on Tuesday Tarif told NOW Lebanon that his passport had been returned to him by General Security.
