iloubnan - Roumieh inmates riot again, detain ISF member - April 26, 2011

An ISF member was detained overnight by inmates in Roumieh prison after riots erupted in the most crowded Lebanese prison.

Father Marwan Ghanem, who negotiated with the inmates the release of the ISF member, told 'Voice of Lebanon' (93.3) on Tuesday that the riot which started at 11:30 PM on Monday in bloc D later moved to Bloc B.

The ISF sent a force unit to raid the prison at 4:00 PM. Ghanem said the situation was calm on Tuesday morning; however, the ISF member is most probably still detained by the inmates who are asking for an amnesty in return.

"Most of the reconstruction and renovation works that has been achieved since the end of the last riots was destroyed in yesterday's riots," Ghanem added.
