Now Lebanon - Al-Rai: Nasrallah told Mikati he can fund STL if he wishes - April 17, 2011

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah “did not impose anything on [Prime Minister-designate] Najib Mikati but went so far as to encourage him to support the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and to fund it if he wanted,” an anonymous Hezbollah source said.
The Sunday edition of Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai quoted the source as saying that Nasrallah also gave Mikati the “freedom to choose the ministerial seats he would give to Hezbollah.”
Nasrallah is therefore of the view that Hezbollah has “offered all it can to facilitate Mikati’s work and expedite the birth of the government,” the source said.
Mikati was appointed in January with the Hezbollah-led March 8 coalition’s backing, following the collapse of Saad Hariri’s unity government due to a dispute over the STL.
The STL will reportedly indict Hezbollah members in its investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination. March 8 politicians have demanded that the government cut funding to the tribunal and sever ties with it.
