The Daily Star - Man arrested after trying to reclaim robbery motor - April 11, 2011

BEIRUT: A 22-year-old man was arrested after he went to the Al-Bourj police station to ask for the motorcycle he had previously used to rob a woman, the National News Agency reported Sunday.
Police reports said that a man arrived to a police station at 1 a.m. Sunday and claimed that an unknown individual had stolen his unregistered Yamaha motorcycle Saturday night in Downtown Beirut, along with its papers and his wallet, which contained his identification papers and $1500.
Investigations revealed the motorcycle was being held in Al-Nahr police station, where the police were investigating a woman’s claim that two individuals on the same motorcycle snatched her purse and escaped, leaving the motorcycle behind, upon reaching a blocked road.
After interrogation the suspect admitted he and another man snatched the woman’s purse in the Beirut neighborhood of Geitawi. The man said that he had reported the robbery to divert suspicion away from himself.
