The Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday held its weekly meeting at the Center House under Prime Minister Saad Hariri, in absence of former premier MP Fouad Saniora who is out of the country.
After the meeting, MP Hadi Hbeish recited the bloc's statement in which it stressed its adherence to "the choice of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and stability together, in the face of all threats."
"All the intimidation campaigns will not manage to affect our full commitment to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon which is at the core of the consensus reached in the (national) dialogue conference," the statement added.
"This campaign contradicts with the fact that the tribunal has become a reality that is impossible to ignore, and with all the exerted efforts towards pacification and preserving stability."
The bloc warned that "the attempt at manipulating the national consensus on the international tribunal is an outrageous call for stirring disputes and feuds among the Lebanese."
It described the tribunal as "an essential cause related to defending the democratic system and protecting political life and individual and public freedoms against terrorism."
The bloc stressed that it will remain persistent in "its stance that rejects civil strife and divisions and calls for tackling all issues with responsibility and calm in order to bolster national unity, especially in light of the impending regional developments and the dangers of the Israeli threats against Lebanon and its sovereignty."
