Naharnet - Hizbullah's Moussawi Warns: No Compromise on Defending Ourselves - September 26, 2010

Hizbullah MP Nawaf Moussawi on Sunday warned against any form of compromise on "defending ourselves."
He renewed criticism against the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

Moussawi said that by avoiding to arrest false witnesses, the U.N.-backed investigation team into Hariri's assassination has "failed the integrity and trust exam the first time; giving us a clear evidence that it (probe) is subject to politicization because of its support to one political camp."

That was a reference to the majority March 14 alliance, whom Moussawi accused of recruiting false witnesses "in response to the international political will."

Moussawi's remarks came during a ceremony honoring graduating students in the southern town of Hanaway.

Regarding the so-called "invasion" by Hizbullah supporters of Beirut airport last weekend, Moussawi believed that the State was "anyway stripped of its dignity."

"What happened at the airport was our right as MPs and political sides to open the VIP lounge and be present there because we are the makers of honor," he stressed.

"There shall be no compromise on defending ourselves in the face of false accusations, and we have the absolute right to use what we deem appropriate for that," he warned.
