Now Lebanon - STL has done nothing with our evidence, says Qassem - September 26, 2010

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) has not taken any practical steps in response to information presented by Hezbollah because its international backers do not want to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said in a speech on Sunday, according to a statement issued by the party.
In a August 9 press conference, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah showed footage that he said implicates Israel in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. The Lebanese judiciary then relayed some information from Hezbollah to the STL.
“We openly accuse Israel of assassinating Rafik Hariri and those concerned should discuss this accusation and study the evidence,” Qassem said, adding that “our continual demand to reveal the truth rests on two matters: Discovering false witnesses and their fabricators, and accusing Israel with evidence.”
Qassem also said that he supported President Michel Sleiman’s “distinguishing between terrorism and resistance, and announcing before all Lebanon’s right to liberate its land with all permissible means,” adding that Sleiman’s statement “means the Resistance is the permitted means to confront the Israeli enemy.”
Sleiman made the comments in a speech he delivered at the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday.
