Now Lebanon - LDP calls for re-evaluating STL’s status - September 29, 2010

The Lebanese Democratic Party issued a statement on Wednesday calling for re-evaluating the status of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), adding that the court is negatively affecting domestic and regional stability.
“Now is the time to deal [seriously] with the issue of the STL, seeing as it is illegitimate and was approved by a former illegitimate cabinet,” the LDP added.
Tension increased Lebanon after reports said that the STL would soon issue its indictment for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. There are fears that should the court indict Hezbollah members, it could lead to clashes similar to those of the 2008 May Events.
