Now Lebanon - Salhab: Foreign countries behind politicization of STL - September 27, 2010

Change and Reform bloc MP Salim Salhab told MTV on Monday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is being politicized by foreign countries, adding that President Michel Sleiman’s stance against the tribunal’s politicization is very important.
In an interview on New TV on Sunday, Sleiman said that the STL needs to “restore its credibility with the public by avoiding politicization.”
“The tribunal is being used to pressure Lebanon politically. It first accused Syria and now it is accusing Hezbollah,” the MP said, adding that the issue of false witnesses who gave fake testimonies in the investigation of the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri must be resolved to correct the tribunal’s path.
Salhab said that Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea’s call to young FPM members to work with March 14 alliance was not serious.
The advantages of the agreement between Hezbollah and Change and Reform bloc outweigh the disadvantages, he added.
