Now Lebanon - Hajj Hassan wants Hariri to acknowledge “STL’s mistakes” - September 28, 2010

In an interview with Al-Liwaa newspaper published on Tuesday, Agriculture Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan said that Prime Minister Saad Hariri should admit that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) might make mistakes.
“The PM should translate his latest words into actions,” he added. Hassan’s comment came in reference to Hariri’s statement to As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper published earlier in the month, in which the PM said that certain individuals misled the STL’s investigation and thereby damaged Syrian-Lebanese relations and politicized the assassination.
“Hezbollah is now aware that STL’s [pending] indictment cannot be changed. It is only a matter of time before it is issued,” Hajj Hassan also said.

Tension ran high in Lebanon after reports said that the STL would soon issue its indictment in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. There are fears that should the court indict Hezbollah members, it could lead to clashes similar to those of the 2008 May Events.
