The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - ISF clarifies number of injured, dead in Roumieh’s Prison - April 7, 2011

The Internal Security Forces (ISF) – Publish Relations Division denied reports concerning the number of people injured during the episode at Roumieh Prison that has been unfolding over the past week.
The ISF said in a statement issued Thursday that 14 inmates and five ISF members were injured.
Inmate Roy Azar died after a stun grenade blew in his hand when he tried to throw it back at security forces, the statement said, adding that another inmate, Jamil Abu Ani, died of a heart attack.
Security forces stormed Roumieh Prison on Tuesday after talks failed to secure the release of three guards detained by inmates who had been demanding amnesty and better conditions in the prison.
