iloubnan- Environment Minister calls for closer security coordination between Lebanon and Syria, December 28, 2011

Environment Minister Nazem Khoury call for further security coordination between Lebanon and Syria in order to protect the joint borders, expressing sorrow for the killing of three Lebanese in Wadi Khaled.

Speaking to Voice of Lebanon radio station, the minister described the constant Syrian army breaches as a mistake which is occurring very frequently.

"The Syrian army has no right to infringe into Lebanese territories and enforce security measures inside these areas without the prior coordination with the Lebanese security forces," Khoury said.

He attributed the discrepancies within the government over the issue of Al-Qaeda to the lack of coordination between the security apparatus.

He added that every minister in the Cabinet acts on his own and tries to pass his project in the government.
Khoury indicated that convening a national dialogue is not ripe yet.

"Dialogue nevertheless is vital at this stage in view of the deteriorating situation in the region."
