Lebanese security forces are on “high alert” and are monitoring the situation at the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp after heavy clashes erupted inside the camp on Sunday, a daily reported.
An-Nahar newspaper said on Monday that Lebanese authorities have “doubled” security measures around the camp.
The paper added that according to reports, tensions have reached “a climax” between the Fatah Palestinian party and other Islamist factions in Ain al-Hilweh.
Palestinian factions clashed heavily on Sunday in the southern Lebanese refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh after the bodyguard of a top Palestinian commander, Mohammed Abdel Hamid Issa, alias “Al-Lino,” was shot dead.
