Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud said on Monday that an electoral law based on the proportional representation system is the most appropriate solution for Lebanon.
“Is it not rational to adopt proportionality in a multi-sectarian country like Lebanon?” Abboud, who represents MP Michel Aoun’s Change and Reform bloc, asked.
He also told the Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio station that his bloc wants to reach an understanding with other parties regarding the finalization of administrative appointments.
During a gathering held at Bkirki last Friday, Christian leaders and MPs assigned a commission to consult with all “national components” to come up with a draft parliamentary electoral law based on the Orthodox proposal, which suggests that citizens should vote for candidates from their own sects.
