Daily Star - Gang of women arrested for robbing taxi drivers, December 18th 2011

BEIRUT: A gang which included three women was arrested in north Lebanon over the weekend for robbing taxi drivers and stealing their vehicles, according to a statement released by the Lebanese Army.
The gang, which also included the husband of one of the women, would board a taxi, ask the diver to transport them to either the northern areas, the Bekaa or Mount Lebanon and then once at the destination rob the driver of his money and vehicle, according to the statement.
As part of their operation, the four-member team would also bring on board the taxis several of their children.
The husband of one of the women was also arrested by Lebanese Army Intelligence, the statement said.
The army urged all those who had fallen victim to the gang’s spate of thefts to file a complaint at concerned judicial authorities to reclaim items stolen from them.
Months ago, a gang of men, who were later apprehended, had also targeted taxi drivers, robbing and then killing them in the north Beirut suburbs.
