Now Lebanon - Rifi from Bkirki: No Lebanese is pleased with the airport incident - September 24, 2010

Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir on Friday, Internal Security Forces (ISF) General Director Achraf Rifi said that “no [Lebanese] patriot is pleased with Saturday’s airport incident.”

“We will carry on with our tasks to protect [Lebanon]. Our one and only bet is on the Lebanese state,” Rifi said.

This comes after armed Hezbollah bodyguards received former General Security chief Jamil as-Sayyed at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport on Saturday without the required permission from any of the relevant bodies.

Sayyed, who had returned from France, was summoned by Attorney General Judge Said Mirza for questioning following the former’s September 12 statement, in which he attacked Prime Minister Saad Hariri. Hezbollah called on the judiciary to revoke the summons.
