The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

iloubnan - New riots in Roumieh, amid reports that the ISF has freed police hostages - April 07, 2011

Inmates in Roumieh prison started rioting again on Thursday afternoon and several security forces have been taken hostages, media reports indicated.

However, OTV reported later that the ISF has freed the hostages restored calm to block D in Lebanon's largest prison.

The television also reported that Lebanese army and ISF police commando units entered the Prison along to put down the protests in the prison.

According to media reports, gunshots have been heard inside the prison and light smoke was seen rising from within. Inmates are reportedly breaking doors inside and ambulances were seen entering the compound.
