NOW Lebanon- Al-Akhbar: Mikati supports Sleiman’s Higher Judicial Council candidate , December 5, 2011

Al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Monday that “Prime Minister Najib Mikati told Energy Minister Gebran Bassil that he will support President Michel Sleiman’s candidate for the Higher Judicial Council presidency.”
However, Mikati reportedly told Bassil that he thinks Judge Tannous Mechleb, the Change and Reform bloc’s nominee for the post, “is the right person to hold this office.”
The Higher Judicial Council is reportedly a controversial issue between President Michel Sleiman and Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun.
An-Nahar reported last week that the Change and Reform bloc supports Mechleb for the post.
