The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - Foreign ship attempts to smuggle cigarettes, October 1, 2011

BEIRUT: Naval forces stopped Friday a foreign boat that was carrying 1,000 boxes of smuggled cigarettes and arrested its three passengers, a statement issued by the Army Command said.According to the statement, a naval patrol stopped a foreign boat coming from outside Lebanese regional waters at 5 a.m. facing Abdeh Beach in Akkar.The boat was carrying 1,000 boxes of smuggled cigarettes and had three passengers on board, a Cypriot and two Syrians.The boat was taken to Tripoli Maritime Center and the passengers were arrested and their possessions confiscated.
