The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

BEIRUT: Future bloc Akkar MP Mouin Merhebi accused the Lebanese Army intelligence Thursday of attacking Lebanese for transporting wounded Syrians to get treatment in Lebanese hospitals.Merhebi said in a statement army intelligence personnel kidnapped Wednesday a Lebanese in the Bekaa town of Qaa who was transporting a wounded Syrian with his family to a hospital in Hermel.They also attacked the Lebanese driver of the car that was transporting the Syrian and later dumped him in an isolated area after his car broke down, he said.Merhebi said army intelligence personnel also arrested the wounded Syrian with his family but later released them.He added that army intelligence personnel arrested Thursday in Akkar a Syrian who was shot in both his hands and who was heading to the Halba government hospital for a surgery.Merhebi called on Army Commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi to intervene to stop these acts.Future bloc MP Khaled Daher recently accused the army intelligence of torturing and beating residents of north Lebanon, and of working under the orders of Hezbollah.Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and members of the ruling March 8 coalition slammed Daher’s claims, accusing him of trying to destabilize the army.
