The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily star - Prison break foiled after guards tipped off on plot, October 13, 2011

BEIRUT: Authorities foiled six inmates’ plan to escape from Amioun prison in north Lebanon early Wednesday morning, according to a security source.The source said the guards had been tipped off on the escape plot, which was masterminded by Haytham Allaw and Yehya Ayyoubi, two prisoners classified by authorities as “dangerous.”Police officers backed by ISF Information Branch personnel were secretly dispatched to the prison and they thwarted the attempted escape at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, the source told The Daily Star.Police swooped in on the inmates after they reached the prison’s main square, the source added. After they were captured, the six inmates were questioned amid tight security.The attempted jailbreak came after weekend riots led by Allaw and Ayoubi, the source said.
