The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Iloubnan - EU joint event – European and world day against the death penalty, October 8, 2011


The EU is organising a debate that will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011, at 11am, at the Lebanese Press Syndicate, to discuss the death penalty.

The debate will address the following themes: EU perspective on the Death Penalty, international human rights and the death penalty, regional perspective on the death penalty, Lebanese law and the death penalty and the death penalty in Lebanon.

This will be followed by a series of interventions from the floor and an interactive session of questions/answers, promoting an exchange between the audience and speakers.

Ambassadors of EU Member States and Representatives of the Lebanese institutions will be participating in the debate.
