Iloubnan - Hezbolah's refusal to fund STL will topple cabinet, says Zahra, October 13, 2011

MP Antoine Zahra said that Hezbollah's insistence on not funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) will topple the cabinet as soon as possible.

Zahra added that Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the centralists in the cabinet would not agree to remain in a government which takes this kind of decisions.

The MP's remarks came in an interview with "Voice of Freedom" Newspaper where he stressed his attachment to the STL, since it achieves justice in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and the crimes which followed it.

"All the martyrs who fell in Lebanon are considered martyrs of the Lebanese resistance, since they where assassinated for the sake of Lebanon's dignity and freedom", the MP added.

Commenting on the electoral law, Zahra said "depending the proportional law and the Orthodox gathering suggestion are subject for discussion", stressing the expatriates right to vote in the coming elections since it is a "sacred constitutional right".

Concerning the clarifications of Patriarch Beshara Rai's positions from Paris, Zahra said "the Patriarch's clarification made matters calm when he said his words were taken out of context".

The MP stressed that they would never attack the patriarchate or the patriarch and would not accept anyone to do so.
