Naharnet - Jumblat Holds Banquet for Old Allies, Stresses Importance of Funding STL, October 13, 2011

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat held a dinner banquet for his former allies, al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Thursday.
“Everyone attended the dinner banquet,” ex-PSP member Fouad al-Saad confirmed to the daily.
He said: “This is the normal situation that should’ve been; he (Jumblat) can’t abandon us, neither can we.”
What had happened in the past was bounded by certain “circumstances,” Saad told the daily, “he couldn’t have taken any other position, neither could we.”
Sources told the newspaper that the banquet was not aimed at setting the state for new ties between the MPs that disagreed with Jumblat’s stances and the Druze leader, but it is to confirm his centrist position next to President Michel Suleiman and the cabinet.
“He (Jumblat) will stress on his stances during an interview with al-Manar TV station on Friday night,” they said.
The sources said that Jumblat will “stress the importance of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon because Lebanon’s credibility is on the line.”
The STL accused four Hizbullah members of being involved in ex-Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s murder in 2005, and had issued arrest warrants against them.
