Now lebanon - Salhab says his bloc will not approve STL funding, October 7, 2011

Change and Reform bloc MP Salim Salhab said on Friday that his bloc has will not to approve Lebanon’s share of funding for the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) probing the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
“The Change and Reform bloc took a decision against STL funding,” Salhab told Free Lebanon Radio.
Salhab also said that “his bloc decisions follow its MPs convictions, and do not aim to obstruct [the work of the government] or to [please] a certain political party.”
The Hezbollah-led March 8 parties – which currently dominate Lebanon’s cabinet – have opposed a clause in the Lebanese annual state budget pertaining to the funding of the tribunal, while Mikati has voiced Lebanon’s commitment to the court and its funding.
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL for the assassination of Hariri. However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court.
Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL’s annual funding.
Salhab also condemned the Syrian army’s entrance into the Lebanese territory and called for borders demarcation.
On Tuesday, Syrian army tanks crossed the Lebanese border near the town of Aarsal and fired several gunshots within Lebanese territory, while on Thursday Syrian troops shot and killed a Syrian farmer on the Lebanese side of the two countries’ border.
Thousands of Syrians have fled into Lebanon in recent months, often using illegal border crossings, to flee the unrest gripping their country.
