The Daily Star - Environmental awareness must start early: Khoury, February 21, 2012

BEIRUT: Environment Minister Nazem al-Khoury said Monday that awareness of environmental issues begins at school and home.
Representing Prime Minister Najib Mikati during the opening of the United Nations Development Program – which is backing the theatrical production “Nature Festival” at the UNESCO Palace – Khoury said Lebanese elementary school students ought to learn that “planet earth is not a personal belonging but rather a legacy they ought to preserve for generations to come.”
The pedagogical play’s premiere was also attended by Spanish Ambassador Juan Carlos Gafo and UNDP Resident Representative Robert Watkins. Watkins said the U.N. was committed to helping Lebanon achieve its goals in the environmental field.
He also explained that the “Nature Festival” play was designed to address environmental issues and explain to children the threats of climate change and the benefits of preserving water and energy.
