The Islamic Endowments
Department in North Lebanon’s Akkar on Thursday distributed humanitarian
assistance to Syrian families that have fled to Lebanon due to the ongoing
violence in Syria.
The National News Agency
reported that the aid was delivered in coordination with other philanthropic
groups, including Qatar Charity.
The humanitarian
assistance, which included food, was delivered at the Center of the Islamic
Endowments in the northern Lebanese town of Halba in the presence of the
department’s chief, Sheikh Malek Jadida.
The NNA quoted Jadida as
saying that the “assistance reached around 1000 Syrian families.”
Thousands of Syrians have
fled the unrest in their country, which according to the UN has left more than
8,000 dead.
