Daily Star - UNRWA boosts health care coverage of refugees, April 19, 2012

BEIRUT: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East announced Wednesday that it is increasing its average coverage of tertiary care for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon from 40 to 50 percent.
The changes, which follow intensive fundraising efforts, according to an UNRWA statement, take effect May 1, and the increase follows a similar move in May 2011 which saw coverage increase from 30 to 40 percent.
Refugees must pay the remainder of their tertiary care costs themselves. In the instance of medical admissions, UNRWA’s coverage will increase from $250 per day of hospitalization to $300, and the maximum duration coverage will increase from 12 to 14 days.
