NowLebanon - Mansour denies report Sadr’s remains may have been found, April 12, 2012

Minister of Foreign Affairs Adnan Mansour denied Al-Jazeera television’s report that the remains of Lebanese Shia leader Imam Moussa al-Sadr may have been found in a cemetery in the Libyan city of Tajura.
“Al-Jazeera’s report is not true at all,” Mansour told Al-Akhbar newspaper, adding that the investigation into Sadr’s disappearance was ongoing.
Al-Jazeera’s report had said that the remains of the body found in Tajura were transferred to a hospital in Libya’s Tripoli to conduct DNA tests, and added that Libyan authorities contacted Lebanese authorities to coordinate on the matter.
Sadr and two companions disappeared in 1978 in Libya. The Amal Movement—which Sadr founded—has accused former Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi of being behind his disappearance.
The collapse of Qaddafi’s regime in Libya has raised hopes that the fate of Sadr will soon be revealed.
