Minister of Labor, Sejaan Azzi, on Tuesday launched, during a press conference, a campaign on fighting human trafficking, within the framework of a regional project to protect migrant workers in the Middle East and North Africa.
"There have been many conferences and campaigns to fight human trafficking in Lebanon (...) this phenomena is growing in Lebanon, where providing foreign workers has become more of providing goods and merchandises," Azzi told the conference.
"Even more, human trafficking has become an Arab and international system instead of just a phenomenon," he added.
"As a Ministry of Labor, and in collaboration with other concerned ministries and security apparatuses, must be leading the fight against human trafficking, starting by imposing strict measures when handing or renewing work permissions," he explained, vowing that offices which provide foreign workers will be reorganized.
