Now Lebanon - It is in Hezbollah’s interest to cooperate with STL, says Gemayel - July 1, 2011

Kataeb Party leader Amin Gemayel told LBC television on Thursday that all parties should cooperate with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, adding that it is in Hezbollah’s interest to cooperate with the tribunal.
“It is also in Hezbollah’s interest to not fear that the STL is politicized, and that it cooperates to know the truth. Through this, we can open a new page even regarding Lebanese-Lebanese relations.”
Gemayel also said that the STL’s indictment is an important step, adding that “we need a salvation committee that bears the responsibility of the [upcoming] stage.”
Lebanon needs such a committee to follow up objectively with the STL and its work in order to strengthen the country.
The STL said in a statement published on its website that the indictment and accompanying arrest warrants were transmitted to the Lebanese authorities on Thursday.
A judicial official told AFP that four Lebanese suspects are named in the indictment.
Local media said at least two of them were members of the Iranian and Syrian-backed Hezbollah, which has warned it would defend itself if accused.
