Attorney General Said Mirza said that he began carrying out the legal procedures to implement the arrest warrants he received from the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), the National News Agency reported on Friday.
The NNA also denied media reports that Mirza will meet with Judicial Police chief Brigadier General Salah Eid today over the issue of the warrants.
On Thursday, the STL said in a statement published on its website that the indictment and accompanying arrest warrants were transmitted to the Lebanese authorities.
A judicial official told AFP that four Lebanese suspects are named in the STL’s indictment of the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Local media said at least two of them are members of the Iranian and Syrian-backed Hezbollah, which has warned it would defend itself if accused.
