The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - Riot at Amioun ends with release of prisoner’s mom, October 11, 2011

BEIRUT: A riot at Amioun prison in Koura, north Lebanon, ended late Saturday after authorities released the mother of a prisoner who tried to smuggle drugs to her son.The mother, who was arrested Saturday for trying to smuggle drugs to her son Haytham Allaw, signed a paper saying she would not repeat the offense, a security source told The Daily Star.The mother was released late Saturday, the source added. Her arrest was the main cause of the revolt.
