Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is scheduled to make a televised appearance on Saturday marking the first day of Ashura during which he will renew the party’s rejection of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
He is also expected to address the alleged Central Intelligence Agency spy network in Beirut, revealed a source close to Hizbullah to Akhbar al-Yawm news agency on Thursday.
The party chief is expected to then make another televised appearance at the end of ten-day period of Ashura.
During his first appearance, Nasrallah is likely to voice Hizbullah’s absolute rejection of the STL and not just its funding, said the source.
In addition, he will address the alleged CIA network to confirm that it is also cooperating with the Mossad Israeli intelligence, it noted.
The Los Angeles Times had published a report on Monday that the CIA is operating in Lebanon.
This prompted the Lebanese government to request Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour to summon the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly in order to inquire about these claims.
The source said that Nasrallah will use this matter in order to assert the resistance’s right to defend Lebanon and protect it against espionage.
On June 24, Nasrallah announced that Hizbullah has discovered at least two CIA operatives working within its ranks, adding that they were recruited by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
