Interior Minister Marwan Charbel gave a press conference Tuesday on the arrest of five brothers suspected of being serial killers.
Charbel identified the five suspects as Michel, Georges, Aziz, Moussa and Maurice Tanlian. The minister said that they are originally Syrian, adding that Aziz, Moussa and Maurice have gained Lebanese nationality.
Charbel said that the gun used in the crimes that left 11 dead belongs to the oldest brother, adding that the arrests were conducted at dawn on Tuesday.
He added that the 11 murdered victims include Syrian and Iranian nationals as well as a woman identified as Malkeh Tawfik.
“Most victims were killed by being shot in the head behind the ear. The motives for the crimes are still unknown,” the minister added.
The National News Agency reported earlier that most of the suspects’ victims were taxi drivers.
