NOW Lebanon- Chehayeb condemns Charbel’s statements on Syrian abductions , November 15, 2011

Progressive Socialist Party MP Akram Chehayeb condemned on Tuesday Interior Minister Marwan Charbel’s statements that no Syrian nationals were abducted in Lebanon.
“It seems that the 13 Syrians abducted in Lebanon are no longer in Lebanon, which is dangerous,” a statement issued by Chehayeb’s office read.
Charbel said on Thursday that “claims that 13 Syrian nationals have been abducted in Lebanon are politically motivated.”
The PSP MP said that “what is even more dangerous than Charbel’s statement is that we are still waiting for the Lebanese judiciary to decide on the matter.”
"The statements made during several parliamentary sessions confirmed the abductions and who was behind them," he also said.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Najib Mikati, the Syrian National Council voiced its concern about the “abduction” of 13 Syrian opposition figures in Lebanon and called on the Lebanese authorities to assume responsibility toward those residing in Lebanon, AFP reported last week.
