Daily Star - France to give 1 mln euros for Nahr al-Bared rebuild, December 2, 2011

BEIRUT: The United Nations Relief Works Agency announced Wednesday that the French government will contribute 1 million euros to UNRWA’s reconstruction efforts in the Nahr al-Bared camp. The U.N. organization said the money will be used to rebuild a health center and partially fund a school in the Palestinian refugee camp. The medical center was destroyed in the 2007 conflict in the camp between the Fatah al-Islam and the Lebanese Army. “Rebuilding the health center is an additional sign of normalcy in the lives of Nahr al-Bared residents.I am thankful to the French government for this generous donation,” said Salvatore Lombardo, director of UNRWA affairs in Lebanon. The center is intended to serve around 27,000 Palestinians who were displaced during the fighting.
