The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

NOW Lebanon - Lebanese court convicts three for planning NYC attack, February 18, 2012


A Lebanese court on Friday convicted two Lebanese nationals and their Syrian accomplice for planning to blow up a tunnel in New York City for Al-Qaeda, US daily The Washington Post reported Friday.
The newspaper added that Assem Hammoud was convicted to a two year prison sentence, which he has already served.
The other two men were sentenced in absentia to life in prison.
“The FBI said the plotters planned to bomb and flood Hudson River train tunnels” between New York and New Jersey in 2006, The Washington Post added.
