The Daily Star - Daher calls for justice for sheikhs killed at checkpoint, July 2 2012

BEIRUT: Future Movement MP Khaled Daher called the killing of Sheikh Ahmad Abdul-Wahed and his companion a “conspiracy, assassination and deliberate murder” Sunday on the 40th day since the two men were gunned down at a military checkpoint. Abdul-Wahed and his companion, Sheikh Mohammad al-Mereb, were killed in May at an Army checkpoint in Kwaikhat, Akkar, while en route to a rally organized by Daher. Speaking at a memorial in the north, Daher, who represented former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, the leader of the Future Movement parliamentary bloc, called for the investigation into the killings to be moved to the country’s Judicial Council. “Our demand is justice in punishment of the murderers and whoever was behind them, because whoever shot them was pushed to it,” he said. The memorial was also attended by a number of other March 14 officials and religious leaders.
