The Daily Star - Anti-Assad men ‘abducted’ in Bekaa, July 24 2012

BEIRUT: Syrian opposition figures were abducted in the Bekaa Valley Monday night, in a bid to exchange them for Lebanese held by the opposition in Syria, media reports said. The Daily Star could not confirm the news Monday.
News channel Al-Mayadeen said the previously unheard of group “Ansar Zouwar al-Reda Sariyat al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi” carried out the kidnapping.
The Beirut correspondent of Arabic-speaking Russian news channel Russia Today said he received a text message on his phone Monday from the kidnappers informing him that they abducted Syrian opposition figures in the Bekaa in a bid to swap them with the kidnapped Lebanese pilgrims.
“This is only the beginning,” the text message read. “All those involved with the Syrian opposition in Lebanon or those who support it will be targeted until the 11 abducted [pilgrims] return home safe.”
Lebanese Elnashra news website later reported that five Syrian opposition figures were snatched.
Eleven Lebanese Shiite pilgrims were kidnapped in May apparently by a Syrian opposition group.
