The Daily Star - Special Tribunal for Lebanon prosecutor arrives in Beirut, July 25 2012

BEIRUT: Prosecutor Norman Farrell of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) arrived in Lebanon late Tuesday.
Farrell was sworn in as prosecutor in March, replacing Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare.
Farrell is a Canadian jurist with extensive experience in international law. Before taking on the role of STL prosecutor, he served as deputy prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The U.N.-backed court, established in 2007 to try those behind the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005, has indicted four members of Hezbollah. The resistance group denies any involvement in the case.
Last week, Pretrial Judge Daniel Fransen issued an order setting March 25 as the tentative start date for the trial in absentia of the four members of Hezbollah indicted by the international court.
