The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Syrian army kidnaps Lebanese shepherd, July 11 2012


BEIRUT: A Syrian military force kidnapped a Lebanese shepherd Wednesday after penetrating some 50 meters into the border area of Masharih al-Qaa in the Bekaa.
Security sources told The Daily Star the Syrian force crossed the sand barrier Wednesday morning into Masharih al-Qaa and snatched Hasan Hussein Rayed from inside his shack.
The force took Rayed, who hails from the Bekaa border town of Arsal, to Syria.
The source said Lebanese authorities have officially been informed of the abduction by the Bekaa police station.
They said contacts are under way with Syrian authorities to secure the shepherd's release.
