March 9, 2010 - Iloubnan - Houri: National dialogue committee to only discuss defense strategy

BEIRUT- Lebanon First bloc MP Ammar Houri told the As-Sharq radio station on Tuesday that the national dialogue committee members will not discuss any issue other than the national defense strategy.

He added that the 2006 National Dialogue was to discuss the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), Lebanon’s diplomatic ties with Syria, and the demarcation of the Lebanese-Syrian border. “The only issue left is the national defense strategy,” he said.

“Achieving national consensus over a national defense strategy is stronger than weapons or any resistance movement,” said Houri, in a reference to Hezbollah.

Houri also said that he encourages having an Arab League representative at the dialogue sessions, adding that the league’s participation would show that Lebanon’s security stems from that of the Arab world.
